Chef’s Kitchen & Private Dining at FSE

For Memorable Gatherings, Large & Small
The chef’s kitchen and private dining room at Fourth Street East is a warm, modern space designed for hosting—whether it’s a small dinner with friends or a larger community gathering. The materials alone set the tone: a sculptural wood-slat ceiling that moves in gentle waves overhead, matte black pendant lights with golden interiors, and a palette of natural wood, charcoal, and soft lighting that keeps everything calm and inviting.
The chef-ready kitchen is built for active use. A long quartz island offers plenty of room for prep or plating, and the surrounding counters house a full suite of appliances, including a Miele oven, sink, dishwasher, refrigeration, and a tap system for drinks. The handcrafted tile backsplash—oversized, kiln-textured rectangles—adds depth and variation, giving the wall a subtle, artisanal quality. Rows of amber glass growlers line the counter, creating a clean visual rhythm that nods to craft brewing traditions in the East Bay.
The seating mix makes the space adaptable. High-backed bar stools tuck neatly under the island for casual tastings or prep-side conversations. A large dining table anchors the room and offers space for longer meals or private events. The atmosphere feels elevated without being formal—comfortable for everyday use but polished enough to host something special.
Thoughtful details round out the experience. The wood-wrapped ceiling plane frames the kitchen zone and adds warmth at eye level. The lighting is layered: spotlights for clarity, soft pendants for mood, and architectural fixtures that pull the ceiling height into focus. Large windows bring in consistent daylight and keep the space connected to the surrounding courtyard and neighborhood.
It's a flexible, intentional, design-forward room that works for cooking, celebrating, or simply enjoying an evening with good company.
