An East Bay Tradition

First launched in 2008, Oakland’s annual Oaktoberfest in the Dimond is a thriving celebration that merges German heritage with the vibrant culture of the Bay Area, Founded and organized by the Dimond Improvement Association alongside the Dimond Merchants Association, this fall festival illuminates this historic Oakland neighborhood with community spirit, festive music, great food, and autumn vibes.

When is it?

Typically held on the first weekend in October, Oaktoberfest spans two full days—from late morning into early evening—and features free admission to all attendees. Admission is free!

Where is it?

This year's Oaktoberfest will take place at Marion Street and North Boulevard, just south of Lake Street in Oakland's Dimond District. In past years it's been held near the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Fruitvale Avenue, in the Oak Park shopping district. Check the Oaktoberfest Website for the most up-to-date details.

What is there to do?

Oaktoberfest offers something for everyone, with live music across multiple stages featuring everything from Bavarian brass bands to local Bay Area talent. The beer and wine garden showcases over 200 craft brews from regional breweries, alongside select wines and ciders—making it one of the East Bay’s most anticipated tastings of the season. Families will love the Kids' RootBier Garten, a nostalgic and interactive space designed just for younger guests, complete with games, performances, and hands-on activities. And when it comes to local food, the festival delivers big with a range of options—from traditional German fare like bratwurst and schnitzel to global street eats and locally made sweets.
