Cozy Fireside Lounges at Fourth Street East

Fireside moments are woven throughout our unique apartment building, giving you multiple ways to unwind, connect, or simply enjoy a quieter pause—indoors or out.
The Library Lounge: quiet, grounded, and inviting
The library lounge is anchored by a double-sided fireplace set into a dark tiled wall, with open shelving on either side that brings in books, objects, and texture. Leather chairs, low tables, and layered rugs break the room into smaller seating areas, making it easy to settle in rather than feel like you’re in one big open space. The fire adds warmth and focus from multiple angles, giving the room a comfortable, lived-in feel that works just as well for reading or quiet work as it does for an easy conversation.
The Gaming Lounge: social energy with a relaxed edge
In the gaming lounge, the fireplace sits alongside long seating, game tables, and flexible furniture meant for groups. A large screen and durable finishes support activity, but the space still feels balanced and comfortable. The fire acts as a visual anchor, helping the room stay relaxed even as games, conversations, and movement pick up.
The Rooftop Deck: warmth with an open-air backdrop
On the rooftop, a linear fire pit creates a warm focal point without dominating the deck. Surrounded by lounge seating, built-in benches, and modern planters, it keeps the space comfortable well into the evening. Concrete surfaces and wood accents give the deck a clean, open feel, while the fire encourages people to settle in and stay a little longer after the sun goes down over Jack London Square and downtown Oakland.
Why fireside spaces matter
Sitting by a fire has a way of changing how people use a space. It encourages longer stays, easier conversation, and a sense of comfort that feels instinctive rather than designed. They draw people together without forcing interaction—offering warmth, light, and a natural focal point that makes shared spaces feel genuinely welcoming.
