Unique Loft Living in Downtown Oakland

More Height. More Light.
Loft homes at Fourth Street East use their two-level layouts to create uniquely expansive and flexible living experience. The split levels introduce separation between everyday activity and quieter or more focused space, while large windows and open sightlines keep the interiors bright and easy to navigate. All one- and two-bedroom lofts also include a private deck, creating a genuine indoor–outdoor extension of the living space.
In most of our luxury lofts, the main living area is open to the full ceiling height. The added height and tall glazing let light travel easily between floors, giving the great room and the loft a sense of openness far beyond their square footage.
The Clay floor plan (see floor plan details below) is the one exception: instead of leaving part of the lower level open to below, its upper floor loft opens onto a second-level deck. It trades the open-to-below moment for a more contained upper level and an elevated outdoor area.
Loft-style apartments are relatively rare in dense urban districts like Jack London Square and downtown Oakland, where most new homes follow efficient, single-level layouts with standard ceiling heights. These unique units at Fourth Street East let you enjoy:
- Spatial variety: Two stories create natural boundaries between different parts of life.
- Vertical openness: In layouts with double-height ceilings, the scale adds presence that typical apartments can’t replicate.
- Flexible upstairs space: The mezzanine functions as an office, studio nook, reading space, or guest zone without requiring a larger overall footprint.
- Increased natural light: Tall window spans and open sightlines distribute daylight deeper into the home.
- Integrated outdoor areas: First-floor decks in all one- and two-bedroom lofts—and a second-floor deck in the Clay—add real utility, not just a token balcony.
